A flag off ceremony was held at Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Guwahati on 24th September 2022 to kick start the solo ride of Meenakshi Das , eminent female rider from Assam. The ride was flagged off by hon'ble Mrs. Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, Entrepreneur, Managing Director Pride East Entertainments in the presence of Special Guest Mr. Siddhartha Bhattacharya , MLA. Dr. Harsha Bhattacharjee, President & Trustee SSDN & Dr. Kasturi Bhattacharjee (Clinical & Academics) SSDN extended their best wishes to the rider."

Commemorating the 75 th year of Independence and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya has developed their community mission for sight. In this context a function was held at Raj Bhavan on 12 th August'2022. In this function His Excellency The Governor of Assam formally released the Vision Document of Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya on Community eye care service.








* Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya celebrated the Pre- Children’s Day on 13th of November'21 focusing on the awareness of various Paediatric eye diseases.








73RD REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS

On the occasion of our nation’s 73rd Republic day Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya organized a formal Republic Day function in its premises on 26th January, 2022.

The occasion was graced by the President of Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, Dr. Harsha Bhattacharjee; Director (Clinical & Academics), Dr. Kasturi Bhattacharjee; all our distinguished consultants; and the members of the Institution. Also in attendance were our Community Patients who had been operated on the previous day.

The function started off with the customary March Past Parade by the Hospital’s Security Personnel followed by the hoisting of the Tri-Colour by Dr. Harsha Bhattacharjee.

Dr. Bhattacharjee then went on to speak about the goal of Sri Sankaradvea Nethralaya to ensure equitable medical care to all strata of people in the State, as well as free medical care wherever necessary and possible. He also spoke about our endeavour in achieving or target of declaring Avoidable Blindness Free Villages in different districts of Assam.

Dr. Bhattacharjee’s speech was followed by Dr. Kasturi Bhattacharjee who spoke about the rich heritage of our Nation and reminisced on the selfless sacrifice of all Freedom Fighters for India’s Independence. She also emphasised on the need to strive for continuous improvement for the growth of the Institution.

The function was then concluded with a vote of thanks and refreshments were served for all guests in attendance.

It must be noted that strict COVID protocol was maintained throughout the occasion with the wearing of masks and social distancing being deemed mandatory.
