free rural satellite centre of SSN was inaugurated by the
then Hon'ble Governor of Assam, Shri L.N.Mishra on 26-03-1996
at Bonda near Guwahati.It has adopted 47 villages under it.
SKSHEF has plans to establish more rural satellite centres
to render free and comprehensive eye care service to rural
people of north east region(NER) through survey,counseling
and medical treatment. Patients requiring surgery are bought
to hospital (SSN) and after cure they are again sent back
to their homes.The idea behind is to control the curable blindness
in adopted villages.Following cataract surgery INTRAOCULAR
LENS (IOL) implantation is mandatory to all free cataract
cases. Morover SSN charitable organisations like Ramkrishna
Mission, health camps organized by different organisations
and District Blindness Control Society.Total expenditure incurred
till date for maintaining the free service is more than Rs.
4.8 Crores.
